The short version

  • Everything you paste or type into a tool is processed in your browser. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
  • pipe sets no cookies and shows no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
  • We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you.
  • Your theme and tool options can be remembered in your own browser. You can turn that off or delete it below.

What you paste into the tools

Every tool runs as JavaScript on your device. JSON, tokens, passwords, files you hash, Wi-Fi details for QR codes and everything else you enter stay in the page and disappear when you close it. There is no server-side processing, no upload, and no logging of tool input.

Visit statistics

To know which tools people use and where visitors come from, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It records page views together with the referring site, the country derived from your IP address, your browser, operating system and screen size. It does not use cookies or browser storage, does not build a profile of you, and does not follow you across other websites. Your IP address is not stored for analytics.

We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare acts as our processor; see the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, and may keep short-lived security logs. All fonts and scripts are served from our own domain; the only third-party request is the analytics beacon described above.

Cookies and browser storage

pipe does not use cookies. It uses your browser’s own storage only for features you use, and nothing in it is sent anywhere. To work offline, it also keeps a copy of its own pages and files in your browser’s cache storage:

KeyWhereWhy
pipe:themelocalStorageWhether you picked the light or dark theme.
pipe:pref:…localStorageTool options you changed, such as indentation, SQL dialect, password length or your list of time zones.
pipe:rememberlocalStorageSet only if you turn off remembering tool options.
pipe-…Cache storageCopies of pipe’s own pages and files so the tools work offline. Contains nothing you typed.
pipe:handoffsessionStorageCarries a value you pasted into the search or the home page to the tool you open. Deleted as soon as the tool reads it.

Your controls

If you email us

When you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you put in the message. We use it only to reply and to fix the problem you reported, and delete it when it is no longer needed. Reports are sent from your own mail app; the site itself never sees them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data about you, object to its processing, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), Poland. In practice we hold no data that identifies you, but we will answer any request.

Who runs pipe

pipe (https://usepipe.dev) is run by Pincho, who is the controller for the processing described here. Questions about privacy:privacy (at) usepipe (dot) dev.

Changes

If we change how pipe handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
